I daily battle the energy to take matters into my own hands, to write myself a better part in the story.  Even when I have succeeded doing that in the earthly sense, I am left empty and unfulfilled.  I am learning to be who God created me to be, trusting that it is the part that will be most fulfilling and bring Him the most glory…

PARADISE LOST
(Eldridge – Restoration Year)

When the Woman saw that the tree looked like good eating and realized what she would get out of it— she’d know everything!—she took and ate the fruit and then gave some to her husband, and he ate. GENESIS 3:6 THE MESSAGE

You know this story. Evil was lurking in that Garden. The mighty angel, beautiful and powerful beyond compare. But he rebelled against his Creator, and was banished but not des-troyed. He waited in the shadows for an opportunity to take his revenge.

You must understand: the evil one hates God, hates anything that reminds him of the glory of God. Unable to overthrow the Mighty One, he turned his sights on the ones who bore his image.

Satan came into the Garden and whispered to Adam and Eve-and in them, to you-“You cannot trust the heart of God… you’ve got to take matters under your control.” He sowed the seed of mistrust in your heart; he tempted you to seize control.

The evil one lied to you about where true life was found and you believe him still: Trusting God is way too risky. Rewrite the story. Give yourself a better part. Arrange for your own happiness.

God gave you the wondrous world as your playground, and he told you to enjoy it fully and freely. Yet despite his extravagant generosity, the one forbidden thing was reached for. In that moment your heart shifted. You reached, and in the reaching you fell.

Jesus-expose the ways my enemy has used my wounds to shape my view of life; even of you, Lord. Expose the agreements I have made with the enemy’s lies.
